Over the last thirty years, the SC Group has successfully marketed and licensed over three hundred feature films throughout the world in all media. Its product line has included such names as Academy Award winners Troy Katsur, Kathy Bates, Sean Penn, Ben Affleck, Hilary Swank, Robert Downey Jr., Christopher Walken, and Diane Ladd; Emmy Award winners Debra Messing, Jeff Daniels, Anna Gunn, and John Malkovich; Golden Globe Winners Selma Blair and Kiefer Sutherland; Tobey Maguire, Meghan Markle, Edward Burns, Harvey Keitel, Colin Firth, and Jason Alexander to name a few.
In addition to film, the SC Group produced the hit tween show Flight 29 Down for NBC and Discovery Kids/The Hub, and sold the series to major broadcasters throughout the world. Cartoon Network launched their Boomerang Channel in Latin America with the series. Showcase For Kid's' live action show The Wannabes premiered on Starz Family in the US and was HBO Family Latin America’s number one show. The group also produced several animated series, including Ape Escape based on the Sony Playstation Game for NickToons with Frederator Studios (“Fairly Odd Parents”) and the recently completed Guardians of the Power Masks.
Worldwide licensees of the SC Group have included Sony Entertainment (and the former Columbia Tristar), Sony Pictures Television, Disney/Buena Vista, MGM, New Line, Lionsgate, HBO, Showtime, Lifetime, Oxygen, the Sy Fy Channel, Village Roadshow, Endemol, Nordisk Film, 20th Century Fox, BBC, British Sky Broadcasting, TF1, Canal+, RTL, ZDF, Pro Sieben, Antena 3, Mediaset, Miko/NHK, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, HBO Ole and Cartoon Network.
Company heads David Jackson and Shauna Shapiro Jackson were previously the co-founders of the worldwide distribution company, Curb/Esquire Films (currently Curb Communications) with then partner Mike Curb (of Curb Records), where they also served as President and Executive Vice President, respectively. Further, they served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Production and Acquisitions, respectively, of Curb/Musifilm whose partners included Universal Pictures. Amongst other things, Curb/Musifilm developed and co-produced sex, lies and videotape, which won the Cannes Film Festival Palme D’Or.
Further, both Jackson and Shapiro Jackson started out as attorneys specializing in the area of Entertainment. Jackson served as an attorney at Capitol Records and was then recruited by MCA Records where he served as Vice President of Business Affairs. Shapiro Jackson began her career as an in-house attorney for a production/distribution company where she dealt in all aspects of film production and distribution, and where she first established her strong relationships in the international film community.
The acquisitions team includes Cara Goldstein, a Canadian native with a distinctive eye for quality, yet commercial, films who has been with the company virtually since its inception and has been responsible for acquiring many of the company’s top selling features. Gayle Sherman Hooker comes from the world of production and development having worked with such producers as Sherry Lansing and Academy Award winning director William Friedkin. Lori Doherty Bee comes from the production world as well (Sex and the City, Entourage, Shameless). Linda Paolucci is Sales Administration and Market Coordinator and coordinates all matters relating to each film and television market. Industry veteran Paula Marshall heads the finance and worldwide collections department. Music industry veterans Barbara Gingrich Spiegel and Katie Stephenson Dodson head Showcase’s Reality/Factual Entertainment division.
